Diana Carlin will speak about the book she co-authored: Remember the First Ladies: The Legacies of America’s History-Making Women

Diana Carlin is a retired KU professor of communication studies and former dean of the graduate school and international programs. During her 24-year career at KU she developed a unit on first ladies in a course on women as political communicators. Her students asked for a special topics semester course because they were fascinated with the subject and wanted more. She has since taught courses on first ladies at Saint Louis University and American University. In August 2023 the first-ever textbook for first ladies studies was released followed in January 2024 by Remember the First Ladies for the general public. She is a founding member and vice president of FLARE–First Ladies Association for Research and Education which launched in 2021. She lectures extensively on first ladies to community groups and is currently traveling with her co-authors around the country to promote the books at presidential sites .
