Johannes Kepler was a German astronomer, mathematician, astrologer, musician and natural philosopher, a key figure in the 17th-century Scientific Revolution, best known for his laws of planetary motion. Philip Glass‘s opera explores the man’s life through a series of dramatic scenes, a refreshing return to large-scale symphonic writing for the opera house, staged by Peter Missotten, with Dennis Russell Davies conducting the Bruckner Orchester Linz. (2009, sung in German & Latin with English subtitles, 2 hrs.)
