Holy Week Special: Handel’s Messiah
Saturday Apr 16, 2022 @ 1:30 PM Central Time
Handel‘s Messiah was initially presented in Dublin in 1742 as a biblical oratorio written for secular theaters. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. The video we are seeing was the Easter concert presented in the impressive baroque Basilica Stift Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria, conducted by Ruben Dubrovsky, with a cast of renowned soloists. (2016, sung in English with cc, 125 minutes.)
