Wednesday, June 12 at 1:30 pm. Our readings will be three short stories by Edith Wharton (1862-1937), who with subtlety and satire portrayed the world of wealth, class, and culture during America’s Gilded Age. The stories are “The Muse’s Tragedy” (1899), “The Pelican” (1899), and “Xingu” (1916). They are available in an inexpensive Dover Thrift paperback, Edith Wharton: Short Stories, and each is also accessible in a pdf format.
