For June and July we’ll be discussing stories from Great Short Stories by American Women, edited by Candace Ward.  It’s a Dover Thrift edition, available on Amazon Prime for $2.99, and all or most of the stories are also available online.  Among the thirteen authors are well-known writers like Louisa May Alcott, Edith Wharton, Willa Cather, Kate Chopin, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and Zora Neale Hurston.  For June 10 the stories will be Rebecca Harding Davis’s “Life in the Iron-Mills,” Alcott’s “Transcendental Wild Oats,” and Sarah Orne Jewett’s “A White Heron.”  If anyone wants further information, they can contact me at woelfel@ku.edu.
