Tuesdays—October 1st and 15th at 1:30pm (Note there are 3 this month) ART ROOM in Pioneer Ridge Independent Living.
Tuesday Oct. 29th at 1:30pm THEATER ROOM in Pioneer Ridge Independent Living. We will read and discuss Kansas playwright William Inge’s Bus Stop (1955). It is the third in a trilogy of Inge plays set in his home region. (We read Dark at the Top of the Stairs in 2022 and Picnic in 2023.) The action in Bus Stop takes place during a snowstorm in a diner about 25 miles west of Kansas City. The bus is stranded, and eight characters interact in ways that are both humorous and poignant. The focus is on a Montana cowboy and rodeo star who is hot to marry a night club singer he’s just met, and who is on the bus against her will. The 1956 film of Bus Stop, starring Marilyn Monroe as the singer, will be shown on the last Tuesday in October. All are welcome to join the reading and watch the film.
