We will read Derek Walcott’s play, “Ti-Jean and His Brothers.”  Although in style the play borrows from other dramatic traditions, it is by a playwright from Trinidad and concerned with the history of the West Indies. The play depicts the country’s growth from physical prowess to hyper education to focus on Trinidad’s growth as an independent state.  Each stage is represented by one of the brothers.  And each is opposed by the devil in a different form.
