Foreign Film: Pandora’s Box
Friday Mar 11, 2022 @ 1:30 PM Central Time
Although made nearly a hundred years ago, Pandora’s Box is incredibly prescient and amazingly modern, following the downward spiral of the fiery, brash, yet innocent showgirl Lulu, whose sexual vivacity has a devastating effect on everyone she comes in contact with. Based on the play by Frank Wedekind and directed by G.W. Pabst, one of the masters of early German cinema, the film features sensational Kansas native Louise Brooks, whose own life mirrors the character she plays. (1929, silent with English intertitles, 133 minutes.)
