Domestic Film: Dirty Dancing

It’s 1963, and a sweet young girl (Jennifer Grey) accompanies her family to a fancy resort in the Catskill Mountains, where she becomes infatuated with the camp’s dance instructor (Patrick Swayze), a man whose background is vastly different from her own. Drama ensues when she lies to her father to get money to pay for an illegal abortion for the man’s dance partner, and volunteers to take the woman’s place at a dance exhibition if only he’ll teach her, which he does, of course, to the horror of her uptight father.
