With little real-life contact with other people, Amelie resorts to her own fantasy world and dreams of love and beauty. Later as a young woman she moves to the central part of Paris and becomes a waitress. She finds a lost treasure in her apartment and returns it to the former occupant. Seeing his reaction, she decides to devote her life to helping people around her, including her father with his many personal problems while neglecting her own. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and written by Guilleaume Laurant and Jean-Pierre Jeunet this movie was nominated for 5 Oscars with 59 wins and 79 nominations total.
