Elevator to the Gallows
 
A self-assured businessman Julien Tavernier and his boss’s wife, Florence Carala are lovers who plan to murder her husband by faking his suicide.  Unfortunately, their plan doesn’t go well.  Julien, realizing the rope he used was left behind, returns to the murder site to retrieve it for fear it could implicate him.  The well-thought-out plan begins to unravel to their dismay.  This French film was directed by Louis Malle and won four awards and one nomination.  (1958 one hr. 31 min.)
