An aging, booze-addled father, Woody (Bruce Dern), makes a trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son, David (Will Forte), in order to claim a million-dollar Mega Sweepstakes. Their trip gets waylaid at a small town in central Nebraska, where the father grew up and has scores to settle. The story is told with deadpan humor and a unique visual style about a son trying to get through to a father he doesn’t understand. Directed by Alexander Payne and written by Bob Nelson the movie was nominated for 6 Oscars and had 29 wins and 169 nominations for other awards.
