“Island in Between” is a 20-minute poetic documentary by S. Leo Chiang. It follows his return to Kinmen, a Taiwanese island just two miles off the Chinese coast, using this borderland to reflect on his own identity between Taiwan, China, and the U.S. It’s a visually rich and quietly powerful film, offering both a personal journey and a reflection on global geopolitics. Directed by S. Leo Chiang and written by S. Leo Chiang and David Teague, the movie was Oscar nominee for Best Documentary Short Film.
