Bizet’s Carmen was never more seductive or enticing than Elina Garanca‘s smoldering performance in the 2010 Metropolitan Opera production which also features Roberto Alagna as the army captain who gives up everything for her, only to lose her to a flashy bullfighter, with tragic consequences. Conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and staged by Richard Eyre, with backstage interviews hosted by Renee Fleming. (Sung in Italian, with English subtitles, 3 hours.)
