Music Appreciation: Gustav Holst’s The Planets (2 versions)

Because Gustav Holst‘s The Planets is only an hour long, we are showing two different concert versions of it–first, a lavish visualization by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Andrew Davis, with stunning photography of the planets, and eloquent images of Holst’s own interpretation of the astrological significance of each planet; followed by a more straightforward performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen.  (1994 and 2013 respectively, 2 hrs.)
