Drama Study: Herzog’s Woyzeck
Werner Herzog‘s Woyzeck is based on the play by Georg Buchner, about a beleaguered soldier, alone and powerless in society, assaulted from all sides by forces he cannot control. Abused and tortured, both physically and psychologicaly by commanding officers, doctors and his unfaithful wife, Franz Woyzeck struggles to hold on to his humanity and his fragile sanity. Klaus Kinski plays him to perfection.
